Feel free to invite friends and family. All ages are welcome! Free Parking on Site   Art at its best possesses an uncanny ability to communicate ideas and feelings that we need to understand. It seems that especially in times of struggle or unrest, art helps us connect to the personhood of others. Art creates dialogue. Dialogue promotes reflective discussion. And reflection can lead to change. My paintings are crafted as reflecting devices that mirror and focus the viewer’s attention on where we've been, and where we are going in the United States. As Marvin Gaye sang so poignantly - “What’s going on.” Often the big stories in my artwork are inspired by the rhythms and ideas found in music, literature, history, politics, and film. One of my collectors has described me as an artistic chronicler of our times. He finds threads of current events and pop culture woven into the philosophical and spiritual undercurrents of my art.  My new oil on linen painting Love in the Time of Kamala, which will be exhibited in Whiplash, engages the viewer in a scene of hope, perhaps irrational but heartfelt, as a couple embraces and the world turns around them. Can the United States live up to its grand ideals?                                             - Gregg Chadwick, October 2024 "In old Arabic poetry love, song, blood and travel appear as four basic desires of the human heart and the only effective means against our fear of death. Thus, travel is elevated to the dignity of the elementary needs of humankind." - Czeslaw Milosz on the poetry of travel Movement, travel and pilgrimage are themes that often appear in my paintings. Travel can involve a physical relocation or it can exist in the realm of the senses. I attended "A Gathering of Hearts Illuminating Compassion," an interfaith meeting in San Francisco. The Dalai Lama was the keynote speaker at the event. He entered the packed hall, briskly moved up the center aisle, but stopped briefly to greet an elderly Tibetan woman a few feet from where I was seated. Then the Dalai Lama suddenly spun around and, with a beatific smile, gazed deeply and directly into my eyes. I was transfixed. The moment was short, but to me it felt as if all time collapsed within that point. For that moment, it seemed as if the Dalai Lama yearned to see with my eyes as I, in turn, learned to see through his. "Bruce Springsteen will appear alongside former President Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris at a massive rally in Atlanta, Georgia, on Oct. 24, kickstarting a series of ‘When We Vote We Win’ shows in the seven major swing states during the closing days of the campaign. A second event will take place Oct. 28 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, with Springsteen and Barack Obama. 

According to a senior campaign official, additional ‘When We Vote We Win’ rallies will be announced in the coming days. They are likely to hit Michigan, Wisconsin, Arizona, North Carolina, and Nevada.

 Earlier this month, Springsteen officially endorsed Kamala Harris in a video taped at a diner in Freehold, New Jersey. “Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually, and emotionally divided as it does at this moment,” Springsteen said. “It doesn’t have to be this way. [Kamala Harris and Tim Walz] are committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone, regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view or sexual identity, and they want to grow the economy in a way that benefits all, not just a few like me. On top, that’s the vision of America I’ve been consistently writing about for 55 years.”

"To be human is to crave light. We rise and sleep according to the rhythms of the sun, and have long associated light with divinity. Focusing on the arts of western Europe, Lumen explores the ways in which the science of light was studied by Christian, Jewish, and Muslim philosophers, theologians, and artists during the “long Middle Ages” (800-1600 CE). During this period science (or the study of the physical universe) served as the connective thread for diverse cultures across Europe and the Mediterranean, uniting scholars who inherited, translated, and improved upon a common foundation of ancient Greek scholarship. Several contemporary artworks, including special installations by Helen Pashgian and Charles Ross will extend the exhibition’s reach throughout the Museum."

“Hi, I'm Bruce Springsteen. Friends, fans, and the press have asked me who I'm supporting in this most important of elections. 

And with full knowledge that my opinions are no more or less important than those of any of my fellow citizens, here's my answer: I'm supporting Kamala Harris for President and Tim Waltz for Vice President and opposing Donald Trump and JD Vance. 

Here's why. 

We are shortly coming upon one of the most consequential elections in our nation's history. Perhaps not since the Civil War has this great country felt as politically, spiritually, and emotionally divided as it does then at this moment. 

It doesn't have to be this way. 

The common values, the shared stories that make us a great and united nation are waiting to be rediscovered and retold once again. 

Now that will take time, hard work, intelligence, faith and women and men with the national good, guiding their hearts. 

America's the most powerful nation on earth.  Not just because of her overwhelming military strength or economic power, but because of what she stands for, what she means, what she believes in: freedom, social justice, equal opportunity, the right to be and love who you want. 

These are the things that make America great. 

Donald Trump is the most dangerous candidate for President in my lifetime. His disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power should disqualify him from the office of President ever again. 

He doesn't understand the meaning of this country, its history or what it means to be deeply American. 

On the other hand, Kamala Harris and Tim Waltz are committed to a vision of this country that respects and includes everyone regardless of class, religion, race, your political point of view or sexual identity, and they want to grow our economy in a way that benefits all, not just the few like me on top. That's the vision of America I’ve been consistently writing about for 55 years now. 

Everybody sees things different, and I respect your choice as a fellow citizen, but like you, I've only got one vote, and it's one of the most precious possessions that I have. 

That's why come November 5th, I'll be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
