The Angel of History

Image
Gregg Chadwick "The Angel of History" 28.5" x 73" sumi and oil on screen 2006 "This is how one pictures the angel of history. His face is turned toward the past. Where we perceive a chain of events, he sees one single catastrophe which keeps piling wreckage and hurls it in front of his feet. The storm irresistibly propels him into the future to which his back is turned, while the pile of debris before him grows skyward." - Walter Benjamin, "Theses on the Philosophy of History," IX More at:  https://www.saatchiart.com/art/Painting-The-Angel-of-History/25560/4677196/view

The group show opened on October 6th and runs until...
