Blue Velvet (David Lynch) 30"x24" oil on linen 2025 by Gregg Chadwick My oil on linen painting "Blue Velvet (David Lynch" is an homage to a visionary director and his artistic vision. Lynch thought of Los Angeles as a place of hidden mysteries and breathtaking light. Lynch said: “What I really like about {Los Angeles} if you drive around – especially at night – you can get a little gust of wind of the great days of the silver screen. Just days after his death, the American Cinematheque held a special screening in his honor. I walked up to the Aero to honor the memory of David Lynch. As I arrived the sun was setting across the Pacific and an elegiac glow lit up the theater on Montana Aven...

President Biden Delivers Remarks at President Obama's Portrait Unveiling

TODAY Wednesday, September 7, 2022 - President Biden and Dr. Jill Biden host Barack Obama and Michelle Obama for the unveiling of their official White House portraits. VP Harris and Second Gentleman Emhoff also attend. 1:30pm Eastern, 10:30am Pacific.   Here is Aaron Shikler's famous (1969) portrait of JFK, commissioned by Jackie. Poignantly it is reported that six years after his assassination, she found it painful to look at direct images of his face. Note that by her request, he is looking down and away from the viewer. pic.twitter.com/4cukayTuNh — Michael Beschloss (@BeschlossDC) September 7, 2022 One of best White House portraits -- Theodore Roosevelt, 1903 -- by one of most commanding artists of the time, John Singer Sargent, based on brief sittings by the President. Predictably TR loved his heroic portrayal. pic.twitter.com/CDvGGyG43D — Michael Beschloss (@BeschlossDC) September 7, 2022 The official White House portrait of President Barack Obama, by Robert McCurdy...

I enjoyed this chat with Stephanie Case. Recorded in my studio, it provides a hint of the theme of compassion that runs through my artwork.  - Thanks for listening.
