Art At The Airport Open Studios & Holiday Art Sale

Featuring over 20 professional artists opening their studio doors and offering a rare glimpse into their practices, and the opportunity to buy work directly from the artists themselves. Come and enjoy food, drinks, a performance by pianist Paul Cornish and the Santa Monica Folklorico Ballet, purchase handmade, artisanal goods by Market Exchange vendor collective and participate in a winter ornament workshop conducted by artist Marcus Kuiland-Nazario.

I am honored to have my painting The Reader (Botanical Garden) up for auction in this year’s Venice Family Clinic Art Walk and Auction. I’ve donated a painting to the auction for 15 years now and am excited to have this sensitive artwork in this year's auction.

To pick up a book and be transported to another world is one of life's great pleasures. In my oil on panel painting, a woman sits with quiet dignity and reads. One can almost smell honeysuckle in the air and feel a cool breeze on a warm day.

Venice Family Clinic's innovative, integrated approach includes primary medical care as well as specialty care, dental, behavioral health, substance use treatment, vision, early child development, health education, pharmacy, domestic violence counseling, HIV services, street medicine for people experiencing homelessness and health insurance enrollment services.

Now more than ever, we need healthcare for everyone. Auction proceeds will also help strengthen Venice Family Clinic's response to the COVID-19 pandemic. MAMA VIRTUAL, directed by 18th Street Arts Center's communications associate Jeny Amaya, materializes the virtual sphere that transnational mothers construct in order to maintain contact with their children and families back in their home countries. Separated from their children, these Central American mothers externalize this virtual realm through their performance of the “mother’s touch” through the touchscreen of a phone, digital images, phone cards, and other mediated technologies.

Molly Pease used song to open up hidden aspects of of Jimena Sarno's installation "Score for the Near Future" at 18th Street Arts Center in Santa Monica last night. Such a moving performance.

Saturday, December 14, 2019 is the last day to see the sound and sculpture installation.  Jimena Sarno will be present from 1-4pm at the Main Gallery with hot cider!
