Gregg Chadwick The Greatest Of Wanderers 54"x54" oil on linen 2021 Happy Earth Day! Earth Day is held each April 22nd to demonstrate support for environmental protection. I remember the first Earth Day that was held when I was an elementary school student. That day - April 22, 1970 - resonated deeply with me and I continue to support environmental actions across the globe. Today, Earth Day now includes a wide range of events in more than 193 countries. The official theme for 2023 is Invest In Our Planet. I was honored that last week Omni Presenti featured my painting "The Greatest of Wanderers". Dale wrote that "This is truly one of my favorite pieces on our website as I have a personal love for elephants. L.A. artist Gr egg Chadwick is a master at layering and mixing color as seen in this large 54×54 oil painting , creating a beautiful and ethereal background for this majestic animal."  #endangeredspecies  and  #nature  paintings in the  #fragileeart...

Happy #EarthDay ! Today, as we collectively celebrate our beautiful planet, we are reminded of the urgent need to #ActOnClimate NOW. We must recommit ourselves to promoting and enacting solutions that will safeguard our planet for generations to come. From the World Wildlife Foundation : "Polar bears rely heavily on sea ice for traveling, hunting, resting, mating and, in some areas, maternal dens. But because of ongoing and potential loss of their sea ice habitat resulting from climate change–the primary threat to polar bears Arctic-wide–polar bears were listed as a threatened species in the US under the Endangered Species Act in May 2008. As their sea ice habitat recedes earlier in the spring and forms later in the fall, polar bears are increasingly spending longer periods on land, where they are often attracted to areas where humans live." by Gregg Chadwick "The thing that really surprised me was that it [Earth] projected an air of fragility. And why, I don’t know. I don’t know to this day. I had a feeling it’s tiny, it’s shiny, it’s beautiful, it’s home, and it’s fragile." — Michael Collins, Apollo 11 Gregg Chadwick Terra Nostra 30”x36” oil on linen 2020  My oil on linen painting  Terra Nostra  was inspired by the 50th anniversary of Earth Day and the first photograph taken by a human of the globe from space. On December 7, 1972, the astronauts on board Apollo 17 looked out of their spacecraft and saw the entire earth illuminated by the sun. It glowed like a blue jewel. From then on, our conception of our shared earth changed. Eugene Cernan, the pilot of that flight said to Al Reinert in an interview in Atlantic Magazine: "You have to literally just pinch yourself and ask yourself the question, silently: Do you know where you are at this point in time and space, and in real...
